SUMMARY:
This work proposes a method for calculating limited complexity controlled invariants sets using bilinear optimization for discrete time linear dynamical systems subject to constraints on their state and input.
 
In control systems, constraints on variables of interest are associated with technological or safety limits. In general, these constraints correspond to lower and / or upper limits of such variables, resulting in convex polyhedron defined in the state space. A set is controlled invariant  if there is a control action that keeps the state trajectory within it. In particular, it is possible to compute a piecewise affine control law that respect the constraints.
 
Thus, the calculation of a controlled invariant set is an important step in solving control problems under constraints. Traditional methods of calculating such sets are iterative and result, in general, in very complex polyhedron (with many vertices). The proposed method allows the calculation of invariant polyhedra with previously fixed complexity using bilinear programming.
 

In the first part of this work, the theoretical framework necessary for understanding the proposed method will be presented. Then a brief description of similar methods. Finally, preliminar results of the proposed approach will be presented through numerical experiments. In the end, is expected to obtain a numerically efficient method to apply larger systems than those treated by the methods available in the literature.
