RESUMO:

Advances in communication systems point to a worldwide trend in the development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), where antennas play important functions in systems. The incessant development of implanted or promoted biometric sensors has led to the growth of Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) technology. A WBAN can be used for many applications, such as monitoring of physiological signals and industrial communication applications. This is a reference document on communication in intelligent media, and is one of the leaders in the communications, military and medical industry. These antennas are flexible and, therefore, become convenient in applications where antenna rigidity is an obstacle. In this context, this work presents the development of a planar textile antenna in the WBAN frequency range for biomedical applications, showing from the choice of the textile fibers and fabrics to the manufacture and testing of the antennas. Three types of fabricwhich that will constitute the antenna will be produced using knitting techniques: dielectric, conductive and metamaterial. In each of these stages, the fabric loop will be varied, as will the arrangement of the constituent yarns, so that the influence of the change of these parameters can be evaluated on the characteristics (electrical and textile) of the material. The characterization of the materials will be performed using the coaxial probe method and waveguide, to obtain the electrical parameters, and mechanical and chemical tests to obtain the textile parameters. After the characterization stage, the antennas will be designed and simulated, and the best results being manufactured for testing. The results obtained in the simulations and tests will be analyzed, and it is hoped to formulate a relationship between the textile and electrical parameters that can help in the development of other textile antenna models to be able to operate in the WBAN (Wireless Body Area Networks) band and be used in several applications in biomedical area.
