RESUMO:

Signal flow diagrams are directed graphs, used in control systems theory to represent the causal relationship between system components, in which their nodes and edges represent transfer signals and functions, respectively.
To calculate the final gain of the diagram, students or professionals use the Mason Formula. This method requires the user to find all the direct paths and loops in the graph. However, one of the major problems in this application is the fact that for complex systems it is very common to lose some loop or direct path, resulting in an erroneous equivalent transfer function.
This work describes the development and implementation of an image processing system in which its input is the image of a hand drawn Mason diagram and then it finds all the direct paths and loops present, automatically generating the directed graph represented by the drawing .
In this way, the system aims to help students and professionals calculate the resulting transfer function for a given Mason diagram correctly, without losing a direct path or loop.
