Conventional fuzzy logic, Fuzzy logic type-2, State-feedback control

Although it was introduced in 1975 and its superior performance in circumstances in which uncertainties abound, fuzzy logic type-2, only recently became a subject that has increasingly caught the attention of the scientific community, especially in process control applications where sometimes the classical theories of control can not handle the complexity, non-linearity and inaccuracy of many real control systems. In this sense the state-feedback technique consists of a conventional control strategy, but more effective and it is very abundant in the literature. However, the combination of fuzzy logic type-2 and state-feedback control, in order to obtain the advantages afforded by both strategies, is still considered a recent and unexplored research field and, therefore, considered a area of emerging and promising research. Thus, this work proposes the stability analysis and a methodology for synthesis of state-feedback controllers using fuzzy logic type-2, in order to exploit all the flexibility and potential of fuzzy logic, as well as for use of appreciable features provided by modern control strategies and hence provide a contribution to assist in some degree to the spread of fuzzy logic type-2 in the development of more efficient controllers, applicable to different situations.
