RESUMO:

Exchange of multimedia data streams in a distributed systems scenario represents a challenge, due mainly to two problems commonly present in this context: the synchronization between the several streams, and the management of heterogeneous hardware present in the system. The difficulty in maintaining the time limits necessary for reproduction of a multimedia data stream increases with disturbances introduced by the communication channel, which is directly related to the quality of service. On the Internet, streaming real-time multimedia streaming requires efficient synchronization and storage strategies, which can add a significant amount of latency by directly interfering with end-user quality of experience (QoE). Among the applications that require a low latency to ensure an acceptable QoE, the composition and execution of songs through the Internet represent the biggest challenge. This work proposes an effective method for low latency synchronization of several streams in a distributed global multimedia network, such as the Internet. With the development of a new multi-media synchronization method of global reach, several contributions are expected in the context of distributed systems synchronization. Applications that make use of the transmission and reception of diverse flows of data on diverse nodes should be benefited. It should be noted that multimedia flows are also data flow, and the synchronization concepts addressed in this work can be generalized to general purpose applications.
