RESUMO:

The necessity of incorporating more restrictive standards for the emission of pollutants into the environment, waist of raw material, energy consumption, and risks to the population's health, as well as the challenges in the global economy and the development of new technologies have made it necessary the usage of automation in all steps of the process of exploration, refinement, and transportation of crude oil. The complexity of the operations involved in these systems; however, make it impossible to determine all states of execution. This makes the processes involved to be monitored by a large group of devices and alarms usually designed and introduced without a formal philosophy for its management in group. This situation resulted on the excessive increase in the number of alarms configured per operator in the industrial processes. The problem becomes even more serious when facing an abnormal process situation. When subject to disturbing situations at the plant, the system generates a large number of alarms, making the situation inoperable. Thus, this paper proposes a methodology capable of performing real-time alarm processing to assist operation to identify failure scenarios in complex plants.
