RESUMO:

The photonic crystals fibers (PCF) and photonic quasicrystals fibers (PQCF) belong to a broader class known as micro-structured fibers, due to peculiar structural details,  making distinct from the  conventional fibers. The PCF consist of  air-holes printed periodically in a silica matrix. This allows the propagation of certain wavelengths of light and prohibits the propagation of the other. Creating a range prohibited specific for a determined light spectrum. The PQCF operate in a similar manner to the PCF.  However, differ from FCF since the distribution of holes is not periodic and don't contain translation symmetry. Moreover, PQCF may present symmetry at high orders.  Allows the development of optical fibers with ultra-flat chromatic dispersion at different wavelengths. Both fibers PCF and PQCF may exhibit high-birefringence, which is a characteristic property of certain transparent and anisotropic crystal structures that cause decomposition of light into two cross-polarized beams. This particular crystal structure may cause displacement of the crystalline optical axis of the fiber, causing the formation of double refraction that influences the speed and direction of propagation of light. In this work, we propose a detailed analysis of birefringence in PCF and PQCF with the aim of optimizing  these types of structures, and to obtain an ultra-flat chromatic dispersion for use in correctors devices of chromatic dispersion.
