RESUMO:

One of the major telecommunications areas of study that has aroused great interest among researchers approach the absorbers of electromagnetic waves. The studies are fundamentals in settings/environments that allow control of the absorption of electromagnetic waves. In parallel to this growth, increasing studies Frequency Selective Surfaces (FSS) allow their filtering properties are applicable in different systems as reflector antennas in radomes bandpass and absorbers.

The work theme originated FSS geometry modeling using the equivalent circuit method for analyzing the FSS along with the scattering matrix technique to obtain the absorption characteristic. In the absorber design using FSS, will be investigated to minimize the reflection coefficient of an incident plane wave into a multilayer structure to a desired range of angles and frequencies. The reflection coefficient depends on the thickness and the electrical properties of each layer. The development of this work enables a wide applicability in the sectors of telecommunications.

Computational intelligence is applied in several studies. Evolutionary algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms (GAs) have been applied on several occasions in absorbing projects. The computing inspired by the biological or bio-inspired is the largest branch of natural computation, using computer-modeling nature and, at the same time optimizes the use of computers. The bio-inspired computing is the search field that employs metaphors and models of biological systems in the design of computational tools for solving complex problems.

The purpose of this study is the use of computational intelligence in absorbers FSS project that can be used in many applications such as wireless security systems, military applications, antennas and telecommunications. Initially it made a study of the analysis method of cascading of FSS. Formulations, research results and future work will be presented.
