SUMMARY:

Physical Education as a curricular component of basic education has undergone and is still undergoing a process of transformation and reframing of its reality specifically in the educational context. For a long time, the purpose of the discipline was to train bodies as an object for the interests of a capitalist society, with this we find a reality that is still current in which sport is used as training with mechanical and pre-established movements. Our general objective was to describe the implementation of the didactic-pedagogical proposal of the shuttlecock modality, in Physical Education classes, with students in the final years of elementary school. Our specific objectives were: Develop a pedagogical sequence for shuttlecock; describe an experience with the implementation of the shuttlecock modality in the final years of Elementary School; create an e-book with a didactic-pedagogical proposal on teaching shuttlecock and evaluate student participation after the shuttlecock content, in Physical Education classes. The research is classified as qualitative in nature, characterized as action research and was carried out during Physical Education classes with 9th year students at E.E.F. Tarcila Cruz Alencar, in the city of Juazeiro do Norte/CE. The instruments used for data collection were participant observation through the field diary, the application of questionnaires, and imagery resources. The research was submitted and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and registered on Plataforma Brasil, with opinion number 5,997,955, on April 12, 2023. It is in accordance with the Resolution on research with human beings CNS 466/12, considering respect for human dignity and protection of participants in scientific research involving human beings. The results were analyzed and described through the records and observations of the teacher-researcher, through the field diary and questionnaires carried out with the students. The pedagogical intervention achieved its objective of enabling new possibilities in dealing with sport in the school context. Breaking with the paradigms of performance sport as a teaching proposal in basic education is a possible challenge when we propose to understand and reflect on the meaning of sport for educational purposes. What contribution can sport make to the integral formation of human beings? The present study contributes to the various research related to pedagogical practices on sport content from a critical-emancipatory perspective as something necessary and possible.
