SUMMARY:

The diversity of content proposed by the various pedagogical approaches to Physical Education at school leads us to discussions and reflections that interfere in their teaching and pedagogical development in our classes. It is a fact that the listed contents allow students to experience the most varied body practices and, when it comes to sport, going beyond the traditional fantastic quartet, the presence of net/split court sport: tennis, as a sport, offers a possibility its application in schools. Although the BNCC, as an official document, presents tennis as a content of Physical Education at school, its absence in school practices is noticeable due to the most varied claims. Thus, with the proposal of field tennis as content, we visualize offering this modality in an innovative way with contemporary teaching methods that allow its presence as a sport in and of the school through adaptation of space, equipment and teaching materials for its practice, where, given the above, the proposed objectives for this research was to develop a didactic unit on teaching tennis at school, overcoming the difficulties always alleged for not including this content in our annual planning. The present study has a descriptive character, an experience report type. The objective was to develop a didactic unit for classes in Physical Education at school that works and dialogues with the content “Tennis”, since, according to the official document Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), this content is part of the Physical Education curricular component, but that its teaching and learning remain “forgotten” by this discipline under some well-known allegations such as the lack of adequate materials and spaces, among others. This report took place during the Physical Education classes that took place at EMEF Anaíza Luiz Calixto, located in the municipality of Patos (PB) - interior of the Paraíba hinterland. The content selected for the present study, in accordance with the BNCC, net sport/divided court: Tennis, due to the need to enable the teaching-learning of this modality through a didactic and pedagogical transformation in the school context. In the end, the research showed us that: 1) Tennis as a content of Physical Education at school – its application is possible even in the face of known problems that are used to justify the non-inclusion of this and other content in the school environment; 2) Innovative teaching methods and forms – through interdisciplinary work and with the involvement of students, enabling their protagonism, we show that it is possible to create the necessary conditions for teaching this modality in the school environment; 3) Tennis as a content in the students' perception - made learning and practice possible, through knowledge of its internal logic, through contemporary teaching methods, where it demonstrated its importance in classes and Physical Education, allowing access to a “different” sport. Finally, we conclude that tennis is a possible content of its application in the school environment and of great acceptance by the students, since it presents itself as a modality that, in addition to the use of implements, enables the active participation of the student, providing opportunities for inclusion, satisfaction and protagonism in their learning, when worked in an innovative way and for being an individual and doubles sport.
