SUMMARY: Introduction: The state of mental well-being is influenced by intrinsic and extrinsic factors of the human being, including biological, psychological, emotional, and sociocultural factors inherent to each society. Objective: To analyze the statements of family members and CAPS users regarding the layers Living and working conditions and General socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental conditions, according to the Dahlgren and Whitehead model. Method: Cross-sectional study, with a descriptive and exploratory approach of a qualitative nature. Data collection took place at CAPS II Chiquita Bacana, located in the city of Santa Cruz-RN, in the Trairi region. The study included all users aged 18 or over who sought care at the CAPS during the collection period and were accompanied by a person they identified as family. The statements collected through interviews were structured and regrouped into thematic categories. The findings obtained were analyzed based on the model of the Social Determinants of Health of Dahlgren and Whitehead. Results: The statements of 12 users and 12 family members were analyzed and presented in thematic categories. Users and family members were unemployed or engaged in informal activities; those who worked were satisfied with their jobs. The main source of income mentioned came from social assistance programs and social security benefits. Living in their own home was the most common response in the study. Those who live with someone else predominated, with an average of three to four people per household. Regarding the water supply, there were reports of supply difficulties. Regarding basic sanitation, septic tanks and sewage systems were mentioned, and for garbage collection, the burning of waste and collection vehicles were mentioned. Users and family members reported having three to four meals a day. The most mentioned health services were the Basic Health Units and referral hospitals in the region; the most mentioned public services were the health center and educational institutions. There was a lack of interest in participating in cultural activities and activities related to public policies. Participants stated that they live in places with an adequate public lighting network; reports on urban paving mention unpaved streets and paved streets; the greatest dissatisfaction among interviewees is in relation to public safety.
