SUMMARY:

Educational games have the potential to act as a complementary resource in the chemistry teaching and learning process. They play an important role in developing students' cognitive skills, by familiarizing them with specific concepts and sparking interest in studying these contents. This work aims to adopt a playful approach when teaching organic chemistry concepts to high school students. In this context, an educational game was developed for 3rd year high school students. This game consists of a board and 76 cards, which address various concepts related to organic functions, such as structural characteristics, physical and chemical properties and other properties of the compounds represented in the cards. The game will be applied to two regular high school classes during the first semester of 2024. To evaluate the performance of the proposed playful activity it will be used forms, photographic records and testimonials from students. The active participation of students in classes, the increase in social involvement, the motivation demonstrated in the construction of cognitive factors and the improvement in understanding and conceptual interconnection are expected positive indicators. It is hoped that the application of the game will reveal that it is a dynamic strategy in the process of teaching and learning organic chemistry concepts. This can be confirmed through visual observations, student testimonials after each game and analysis of answers in the questionnaires.
