SUMMARY:

Information is configured in contemporary society as something inherent to the sociocultural phenomena exercised by the subjects, whether in personal spheres or in organizational contexts. Managing informational resources becomes increasingly challenging in this society, due to the growing and accelerated movement of their production and consumption. The Library System of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - SISBI/UFRN is configured as an organization that depends on information and organizational knowledge to carry out its activities. These inputs are inserted in an informational flow which we consider delineates and is delineated by the information regime, thus it is our intention in this work to show this relationship. The main objective of this research is to analyze the Information Management actions developed by SISBI/UFRN librarians from the identification of the Information Regime, in order to provide elements for the elaboration of an Information Policy in SISBI/UFRN. Its specific objectives are: to identify and characterize the elements of the information regime that outline the processes of production and use of information by SISBI/UFRN librarians; characterize the organizational information management processes carried out by SISBI/UFRN librarians, contextualizing them within the scope of RI; identify the relationship between the flow of production and use of organizational information by SISBI/UFRN librarians with the RI; propose elements for the planning of an Information Policy for SISBI/UFRN. It is considered that the GI actions performed at SISBI/UFRN are delineated by the information regime of this context, especially in terms of production and use of organizational information by librarians and that the understanding of this relationship, using the concept as a theoretical and interpretive tool. Information Regime can make SISBI/UFRN more efficient. It is configured as a social research, whose theoretical foundation is based on the concepts of information regime and information management. The approach used is quali-quantitative, with exploratory and descriptive objectives. The procedure method is the monographic or case study, having as empirical field the SISBI/UFRN. As technical procedures for data collection, indirect documentation was chosen: bibliographic research and documentary research and for direct documentation: closed questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. For data analysis, content analysis will be used and with the results found, it is intended to provide elements for the elaboration of an information policy for SISBI/UFRN.
