Considering the increasingly dynamic organizational environment, organizations must be clear about what their vision and mission are, making sure to translate them into actions, as well as spotting opportunities to allow a better present and future performance. Thus, the strategic alignment between information technology and business strategy is a guide to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Once managers understand the opportunities that information technology provides, the obstacles that hinder collaboration between information technology and the business strategy are mitigated. The strategic alignment consolidates the synergy between these two areas in a continuously improving process. Considering that, the goal of this study is to identify the promoting factors of the good strategic alignment between the management strategy and the information technology strategy within the organizational environment of the UFRN Education Center. The study will be carried out from a qualitative research, characterized as a case study, having the referred Center as a research object. Regarding the objectives, it is characterized as a descriptive research. The instrument for data collection will be a semi-structured interview, conducted by an interview script, elaborated from the elements that promote the strategic alignment found in the literature, where it is intended to interview the managers of the Education Center, for being responsible for the decisions of the Center, and the team of the Superintendence of Informatics, responsible for drafting the University's IT policy, out of a total of 10 respondents. For data analysis, a qualitative data analysis technique will be used. The current descriptive research seeks to obtain an accurate diagnosis of the factors that promote and inhibit this strategic alignment and, thus, recommend means to enhance the promotion of the positive elements related to strategic alignment.
