IMAGES OF TEACHERS WHO TEACH AT A RESEX CHICO MENDES SCHOOL: MOTIVATION TO TEACH

The founding of the schools, in 1983, in the Chico Mendes extractive reserve in the municipality of Xapuri/AC arises from the struggle of rubber tappers over the population's need for literacy. These rural schools have specific particularities due to their own constitution on the role of the school. Knowing the educational context, including teaching practices, could allow an approximation with the local reality and the subjects and, consequently, contribute to the delimitation of our object: the image of teaching and the relationship with the school. The locus of the research was the União rural school located in the Rio Branco community of the forest rubber plantation of Resex Chico Mendes, with the objective of understanding images of teaching that emerge from the speeches and their relationship with the school. Data collection took place through semi-structured interviews to interpret the experiences of stories lived and narrated by teachers from the narrative research. As the main results of an analysis still in progress, we observe aspects related to the image that the participants express in their speech that reveal their teaching performance. Difficulties, challenges and obstacles were identified, such as time for teachers and students to travel to school, carrying out multiple functions beyond teaching, ranging from cleaning and preparing meals, among others still under analysis for this qualification exam. On the other hand, there is concern and an affective relationship with the profession, with the future of students and the community. Based on the data, we analyzed two large groups of images: one related to affectivity and the other with the precariousness of teaching work. We understand that the relationship of belonging and affection are characteristics that are manifested in the teaching work combined with the dedication to prepare classes and teach content even in the face of the difficulties experienced.
