Books, Place, Geography, Didactic Sequence, Geographic Science.
Studying geographic categories is essential to understand geographic science. Our research addresses one of the geographic categories, which is called Place, analyzing how that category is approached in textbooks. Our research seeks to survey how the concept of place is being addressed in the Geography textbooks that are part of PNLD 2020, and how teachers are working with their students about Geography studies, so we produce a didactic sequence showing how we can work more significantly in Geography classes. It was necessary to start the research with a bibliographic review of theses and dissertations in university repositories, about the chosen theme, with an analysis of the 6th grade Geography books that are part of the PNLD, specific to the year 2020. After analyzing the Geography books of the 6th grade, we prepared a questionnaire that is being applied to teachers from municipal and state schools that were chosen. A diagnosis will be made showing the results of the research in a quantitative and qualitative way. It is worth mentioning the importance of this work, as it will provide Geography scholars and teachers with material, that is, a didactic sequence that will support the class and the content about the place. The research is ongoing, and after the whole process, a didactic sequence will be produced, as already mentioned, which will serve as support for Geography classes.
