RESUMO:

The quality of care processes has become increasingly a concern of those responsible for care and is currently seen as the main object of many health systems around the world, in order to ensure satisfactory patient care. Negative health outcomes are known primarily as adverse events (AEs) or incidents with potential to cause harm to patients. Voluntary reports of incidents and adverse events, performed by health professionals, as well as quality indicators, can be used as important quality tools to ensure that errors are not repeated. The use of computerized systems for the immediate sending and receiving of information on a digital platform is fundamental for the improvement of patient safety actions. A Brazilian public company offers an application called the Patient Safety Indicator Panel, which is used by 29 federal hospitals. The present study aimed to identify the most frequent and relevant problems registered in the computerized system and to propose necessary changes. For that, a quantitative study of the quasi-experimental type was performed before and after no control group to improve the quality of information production. This study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee.
