SUMMARY:

The complexity of patient care pathways has become an increasing challenge in complex
healthcare settings, particularly in the management of cancer patients. The fragmentation
of systems, dispersion of information, and the multiplicity of therapeutic options negatively
impact both patients and healthcare professionals, highlighting the need for structured
approaches to care coordination.
In this context, patient navigation has emerged as a widely adopted strategy,
based on the work of professionals—often nurses—who guide patients throughout the care
pathway, supporting the organization of clinical steps and the execution of activities such
as scheduling exams and monitoring critical events. However, this process generates a high
demand for information recording and tracking, often carried out through heterogeneous
and poorly integrated tools.
Given this scenario, this work proposes the development of the Camões system,
which incorporates explicit clinical workflow modeling as a central element. The system
enables the visualization of patient status, continuous treatment monitoring, and
decision-making support. It also includes functionalities such as patient registration, user
management, monitoring dashboards, and integration with institutional services.
The system is currently in a partial implementation stage, allowing for initial
evaluations in a controlled environment. As a validation strategy, proof-of-concept studies
with healthcare professionals are proposed, combining quantitative usage metrics with
qualitative feedback analysis.
The expected contributions include reducing fragmentation in care processes,
improving efficiency in care coordination, and providing evidence on the applicability of
mHealth solutions in real-world oncology patient navigation contexts.
