Proposal for an intelligent garbage collection system using IoT in the context of a Smart City

New technologies, economic expansion and greater employment opportunities are increasingly driving population growth in large urban centers to such an extent that the UN predicts that by 2050 68% of the world's population will live in households located in large urban centers. This growth brings with it problems and challenges for public managers, in particular, the problem of treating the waste produced. In this context, technologies used in smart cities can help alleviate this type of problem through intelligent monitoring using concepts of Internet of Things (IoT) and data processing. This work presents a proposal for an intelligent system for managing the waste collection using the concepts of IoT and other technologies used in systems aimed at smart cities.
