Yoga sitting and restorative sitting yoga: a comparative study between yoga modalities.
Adapt; Mobility; Elderly; Health; Yoga sitting.
Introduction: Yoga has been the subject of interest for some researchers given their
dissemination in the most diverse cultures. Knowing that yoga in its origin
emerges in the context of India and date of A.C (BC, its contributions
have been perceived to the present day, arousing the attention of different areas of the
knowledge, among which, health. Studies have diversified as to
History, modalities, subjects and their effects on quality of life.
However, some spaces and subjects, such as long -term institutions and
elderly people were not perceived in most research such as locus and
Research profile, as well as the modality that is underway, Yoga sitting.
Adding to this exhibition, integrative and complementary practices (PIC)
has been a matter debated between professionals and academics, being yoga inserted
as PIC in the Unified Health System. This inclusion makes the activity accessible to the
population, however, is a small percentage of the population, since the
spaces they offer and professionals are reduced. Objective: Analyze Yoga
sitting and yoga sitting restorative about the influence on the conditions of
Flexibility and balance in older people. Methods: quantity-quali approach, which
made use of the type of experimental study with semi -structured interviews. Being one
acute research, randomized and organized participants in two groups
Independent: Experimental Group (G1) and Control Group (G2). Submitted to
screening with the international questionnaire for evaluation of the level of physical activity
(I-PAQ). Final sample had 18 participants, being yoga sitting (YS) = 09
(6 men, 3 women. In the restorative yoga (ysr) = 09 (6 men, 3
women). Performed flexibility assessments with Sanny® fleximeter and
Balance analyzed with Berg Balance Scale (EEB). In addition to the tests
Hemodynamics of heart rate and blood pressure. Results:
Statistically there was no difference between the groups in relation to the percentage
Delta (▲%) of improvement, suggesting that yoga sitting and yoga sitting restorative
promote similar effects on flexibility and balance, frequency
Cardiac of rest and blood pressure. However, of the 28 variables comparing the
effects, 20 of these in the median presented negative data (-), while 08 were
positive (+) signaling an improvement or equivalence in movement amplitudes
and their aforementioned areas. In the evaluation of the EEB, statistical correlation was noticed in the
G1 and G2 values in 10 of the 14 variables. It was also found in the size of the effect
in systolic blood pressure and item 7 of the EEB (remain standing without support with
the feet together) was large & gt; 0.50 (r = 0.5062). The score reached in the G1 EEB
there was a difference for more in post time by 06 participants, while
than 02 for less and 01 the same score in both times. In G2 it is verified
a difference for more at the time after 04 participants, 01 remained the
same and 04 lost between 1-5 points. However, all participants of
both groups are within the parameters considered acceptable balance and a
Good balance. As for the interview data, it was found in the categories
predominance in the themes (exercises and sensations) having as content: body,
Relaxation, health and well-being. and dimensions (physical, sensory and mental), these
data expressed the frequency with which they were reported in the speeches and corroborate
with the states experienced, leading to infer that the activity is wide
Acceptance, adding to this, the sensations experienced. Considerations
FINALS: Although no differences were verified in the statistical findings, the
Analyzes made important contributions to the modalities of yoga
sitting and yoga restorative sitting to configure yourself as accessible activities,
inclusive and safe for people with low mobility, besides being a practice
capable of adding well-being sensations and improvements regarding performance
functional. Considering the sample profile, it was also verified to be easy
assimilation and performance by people with visual impairment, difficulties
cognitive, with neurological picture, such as senile and Alzheimer's dementia. Concludes
that YS and YSR are capable activities to promote the welfare of its practitioners,
However, other studies are necessary to expand these discussions and investigate
other developments.
