Terminological subset of ICNP® for PrEP users in light of Callista Roy’s Adaptation Theory.
Nursing Process, Standardized Nursing Terminology, Nursing Theory, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, HIV.
Pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV (PrEP) infection within the context of combined prevention strategies available through the SUS (Brazilian Unified Health System). Nurses can work in health promotion and nursing care for people using PrEP, tailored to the needs of this population. It is necessary to promote health, welcome, guide, and identify ways to cope with and adapt to their new health condition. This study aims to create an ICNP® terminology subset specifically for PrEP users, structured by Callista Roy's Adaptation Theory, to strengthen nursing practice. It aims to construct and validate an ICNP® terminology subset for PrEP users, based on Roy's Adaptation Theory. This is a methodological study with five stages: term identification and mapping, statement construction and validation, and structuring the ICNP® subset. The first stage will involve a scoping review, seeking to map specific terms for nursing care for PrEP users. The identified terms will be cross-referenced with the ICNP® version 2019/2020, using specific criteria to define similarity and comprehensiveness. After constructing the diagnostic and intervention statements, content validation will be conducted by experts using the Delphi technique and the Content Validity Index for concordance analysis. Subsequently, a clinical validation stage is proposed, which will be conducted at the outpatient clinic of Giselda Trigueiro Hospital in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, involving clinical care and evaluation of the subset items. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the FederalUniversity of Rio Grande do Norte under opinion 7.777.441 CAAE 90471425.5.0000.5537. The ICNP® terminology subset is expected to contribute to systematic and accurate nursing care, with more accurate diagnoses, outcomes, and interventions for this population, improving nursing care delivery.
