EFFECTS OF AN INFORMATIVE GUIDE ON SENSITIVE PERIODS OF CHILD DEVELOPMENT.
Child development; Child behavior; Information technology.
Introduction: Child development is characterized as a complex, continuous, dynamic and progressive process, which encompasses several initially simple changes, progressing to the progressive achievement of greater skills. In practice, the term “leap” or “sensitive periods” represent synonyms that are still little known by parents and caregivers, becoming an important knowledge gap. Thus, it is necessary to disseminate health education among parents and caregivers in order to implement and understand this term. Objective: To evaluate the effects of the information guide on the knowledge about the sensitive periods of child development among parents/caregivers. Method: This is a quasi-experimental, non- randomized, before-and-after study. Thus, the study will have three stages to obtain data: 1) Recruitment of parents and caregivers with application of questionnaires on sociodemographic variables; 2) application of the intervention that will be divided into two groups: intervention and control; and 3) evaluation of the outcomes, considering the effectiveness of the information guide as the outcome. The study will be conducted at the Elba Carvalho de Lima Cidade Verde Basic Health Unit (UBS), located in the municipality of Parnamirim in Nova Parnamirim. The population will consist of parents and caregivers of children aged zero to two years, considered infants, who attend childcare consultations at the basic health unit. The project will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee (CEP) of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, via the Brasil platform. The research will respect aspects of resolution no. 466/2012 of the National Health Council, which involves human beings in research.
