PAGES: 50
BIG AREA: Ciências da Saúde
AREA: Enfermagem
SUMMARY:

Exclusive chestfeeding is recommended by the World Health Organization as sufficient for the baby's nutrition during the first six months of life; however, data from the United Nations Children's Fund reveal that only four in ten children worldwide are exclusively breastfed until six months of age. It is important to consider that there are several aspects related to the maintenance or interruption of exclusive chestfeeding, such as biological, cultural, psychological, social and economic factors, and that the health professional must have sufficient knowledge of these to plan care appropriately. In this sense, with regard to nursing practice, the use of the Nursing Process, and consequently of nursing diagnoses, is an important tool for the care of the chestfeeding person, in the identification of factors that favor or hinder the maintenance of exclusive chestfeeding, and this research is relevant for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the following perspectives: Zero Hunger and Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Well-Being, and Decent Work and Economic Growth. Thus, the objective is to validate the nursing diagnosis “Disrupted Exclusive Chesteeding” regarding its accuracy and clinically in chestfeeding individuals, based on a Middle-Range Theory. This is a methodological project developed in three stages: theoretical-causal validity, through the analysis of the concept “Disrupted Exclusive Chestfeeding” and formulation of the Middle-Range Theory to develop the review of the corresponding diagnosis; content validation of the diagnosis “Disrupted Exclusive Chestfeeding” with expert judges; clinical validation of the diagnosis “Disrupted Exclusive Chestfeeding” with the target audience. The concept analysis stage has already been completed; the Middle-Range Theory will be developed based on the theoretical derivation strategy, based on Afaf Meleis’ Transition Theory; the validation stage with expert judges will consist of the Content Validity Index; and the validation stage with the target audience will be operated with chestfeeding individuals linked to Family Health Strategies in the city of Natal/RN.
