AREA: Enfermagem
SUMMARY:

The present study has the general objective of evaluating the effectiveness of using clinical
simulation in the teaching and learning process of nursing diagnostic reasoning in women's
health in relation to traditional teaching at a federal university in the Brazilian Northeast. It
presents the following specific objectives: to build clinical simulation scenarios to stimulate the
nursing diagnostic reasoning of Women's Health Nursing students, to validate the content of
the clinical simulation scenarios constructed to stimulate the nursing diagnostic reasoning of
Health Nursing students of Women: Check between two groups of students (case group and
control group) of Women's Health Nursing, the existing scores and statistical differences,
before and after the use of traditional teaching and the use of clinical simulation; Identify
students' perception of simulated scenarios on Women's Health Nursing through the Simulation
Design Scale: Assess the contribution of debriefing, through the Experience Scale with
debriefing, to participants' learning. This is a methodological study, followed by a randomized
controlled clinical trial (RCT), which will have as data collection scenario the Faculty of
Nursing of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) located in the city of Natal,
northeast Brazilian. The research will involve four consecutive stages: 1) Construction and
validation of the technical-scientific performance instrument (pre-test and post-test); 2)
Construction and validation of clinical simulation scenarios on diagnostic reasoning in
Women's Health Nursing; 3) Implementation of the clinical simulation "Diagnostic Reasoning:
skills for learning Nursing diagnoses in Women's Health"; 4) Identification of the students'
degree of satisfaction with the intervention through the application of a specific instrument
(Simulation Design Scale and Debriefing Experience Scale). The collected data will be
organized in a Microsoft Office Excel 2010 spreadsheet and analyzed using the SPSS 20.0
statistical program. They will be organized into tables and analyzed based on absolute

frequencies, measures of central tendency and dispersion, and mean difference association
tests. This study seeks to refute the null hypothesis and accept the alternative hypothesis that
clinical simulation favors the teaching-learning of diagnostic reasoning in women's health in a
significant way. The project will be sent to the UFRN Research Ethics Committee (CEP) for
analysis and approval. The study is relevant, as it favors the understanding of cognitive
processes involved in the professional training of nursing students, such as the ability for
diagnostic reasoning in women's health, contributing to the training of professionals capable
of raising the quality of care provided to women in the pregnancy-puerperal cycle under your
responsibility.
