SUMMARY:

This research project aims to produce an artwork centered on the motif of “tattoos on the city.” The proposal consists of pasting wheatpaste posters featuring drawings of birds native to the Northeastern region across historical neighborhoods in the city of Natal. India ink drawings of three regional birds will be created for the posters: the crested caracara (carcará), the smooth-billed ani (anu-preto), and the red-cowled cardinal (galo-de- campina). The pasting process will be conceptually linked to the idea of tattoos on a body, so that the drawings serve as marks on the city, reinforcing the notions of memory and permanence amidst neglect.
