SUMMARY:

ABSTRACT
This preliminary thesis text examines the energy transition as a category and a device of green global domination, implemented in Latin America under labels such as “critical minerals for the transition,” “strategic minerals,” and “green mining.” Among the various minerals encompassed by these devices, lithium constitutes the central focus of this research due to its extraction in the territories of Indigenous and/or original peoples in Peru. The study brings together a thematic literature review that discusses imperialism and hegemony as international ecological politics, defines the concept of energy transition, and positions lithium as a key mineral for the analysis of violence.

The research draws on a community-based ethos characteristic of qualitative inquiry, mobilizing interdisciplinary and autoethnographic perspectives. Data production includes participant observation, focus groups, and interviews conducted in spaces of community participation. In this way, the study seeks to establish a trajectory that combines literature review and conceptual definitions, while also shaping the research field, whose exploration will be expanded in later stages.

The study also aims to highlight the processes of resistance and negotiation undertaken by Indigenous communities in the face of natural resource extraction, offering contributions to debates on environmental justice and the decolonization of knowledge.
