Transits in prostitution: between places, connections and expectations
Sex work; transit; agency; gender; sexuality
I analyze the transit that constitute the female prostitution on the route between Paraíba and Rio Grande do Norte State, taking as the main point of this study, the prostitution as a constituent agency of choices and personal projects. This study aims to construct an ethnography that can handle the representations, cultural dynamics, the State traffic, and the possible comings and goings of the prostitutes in the sex market. From this context, to dialogue with questions about sex work regularization, having prostitution as an economic activity that exchanges sex and money. In this way, it is an activity where the women constantly deal with their bodies and the sexuality, and practice their sexuality beyond the domestic sphere. Thus, making possible to move away from a gender structure that dictate norms and behaviors regarding female sexuality. From this point of view it is realized how prostitutes deal with their bodies for economic needs. Understanding these aspect is what will give structure to think of prostitution beyond the lack of economic opportunity.
