SUMMARY:

This dissertation aims to investigate the intersection and communication of local fishermen's traditional knowledge about astronomical knowledge, aiming to promote a decolonial and dialogical educational approach. The study starts from the problem of the disconnection between formal science teaching and the practical knowledge developed by fishing communities, which use astronomical observation to guide their fishing and environmental conservation activities. We will seek to answer some questions, such as: how to promote strategies to dialogue between traditional fishing knowledge and curricular content? What is the role of teachers in this process? And how can a possible integration contribute to environmental preservation and the critical perception of the community? As an objective, we will seek to develop a dialogue between traditional and scientific knowledge about astronomy and environmental conservation, through a didactic proposal for teachers from Guamaré/RN; characterize the fishermen's knowledge about the stars; identify scientific knowledge that can be integrated; and implement an extension course for teachers, encouraging the appreciation of local knowledge. The methodology adopted is qualitative, participatory and collaborative, using case studies, semi-structured interviews, questionnaires and observations with fishermen and teachers. Data analysis will be done through content analysis, aiming to understand the perceptions and practices of the community. Although the research is still in progress, it is expected that the results will demonstrate through the educational product some possibilities of activities to address the traditional knowledge of fishermen in formal education in the city of Guamaré, highlighting its relevance for critical and contextualized scientific education. The proposed educational product will be applied in an extension course, organized in four face-to-face and four remote meetings, which include theoretical discussions, field classes with fishermen and practical activities in schools. The preliminary conclusions point to the need to overcome the banking and extensionist educational model, as criticized by Paulo Freire, and adopt a dialogical and communicative approach that values praxis and interculturality. We hope that this research will contribute to the field of science teaching by proposing pedagogical strategies that integrate scientific and traditional knowledge, promoting environmental conservation and epistemological diversity
