al-Biruni's mathematics from the Canon Casudicus document: a production of Comics
Alliance between History of Mathematics and Digital Technologies, Length of Earth's radius, al-Biruni, Comics, Educational Product.
This master's thesis culminates in the production of an Educational Product (EP) based on research dealing with the Alliance between History of Mathematics (HM) and Digital Technologies (TD) via Comics (HQ), whose purpose is to answer the following question focus: What elements developed in calculating the length of the Earth by al-Biruni can be used in a proposal for an Alliance between the History of Mathematics and Digital Technologies via Comics? To assist in the focus issue, the general objective is to carry out a historical-mathematical study on how the calculation of the measurement of the Earth's circumference calculated by al-Biruni was described through his writings in the document Canon Masudicus, in order to develop an Educational Product based on the Alliance signed between the History of Mathematics and Digital Technologies. To do so, we will use some specific objectives to guide us, they are: extract elements of al-Biruni's biography related to its context from the document Canon Masudicus; select, analyze and carry out a historical-mathematical study of the document Canon Masudicus by al-Biruni, which deals with the calculations of the length of the Earth's radius; organize connections on the Alliance formed by the use of the History of Mathematics in Teaching, together with the support of Digital Technologies via Comics; create an Educational Product of Comics using elements of the Canon Masudicus document analysis that explore information about the calculation of the length of the Earth's circumference carried out by al-Biruni. The research is supported by a qualitative bibliographical and documentary research. The Educational Product consists in part of a didactic proposal with a digital comic that addresses the production of the aforementioned knowledge and will be made available especially for teachers to take to the classroom.
