SUMMARY:

The digitalization of logistics processes has gained increasing relevance in the retail sector, especially in activities that directly affect inventory accuracy, product availability, and the reliability of inventory information. In retail operations, characterized by a wide variety of SKUs, a high volume of transactions, pressure for immediate product availability, and the need for integration between physical and system-based processes, failures in inventory control may compromise service levels, generate rework, cause operational losses, and support managerial decisions based on inconsistent information. Among the practices used to mitigate these discrepancies, cycle counting has emerged as a relevant alternative to traditional inventory methods, as it enables more frequent verification, timely identification of inconsistencies, and continuous correction of inventory records. However, despite advances in the adoption of digital technologies in logistics management, empirical evidence regarding the measurable effects of digitalization on the operational performance of cycle counting in retail organizations remains limited. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the impacts of cycle counting digitalization on the operational performance of inventory management in retail operations. To achieve this objective, an applied research approach will be adopted, with a quantitative design based on a case study, document analysis, direct observation, and comparison of operational indicators before and after the digitalization of the process. The indicators analyzed will include inventory record accuracy, discrepancy rate, average execution time, operational effort, productivity, and product availability. The expected results aim to contribute to the literature by integrating the themes of inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and digitalization from an empirical and measurable perspective. In addition, this study seeks to provide practical contributions for retail organizations seeking to reduce discrepancies, increase information reliability, decrease operational losses, and improve the efficiency of inventory management processes.
