SUMMARY:

Introduction: In November 2021, the first federal law covering the rights of students with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning disorders was enacted. This law guarantees comprehensive assistance through a program of diagnosis and intervention. Objective: To identify the challenges in implementing Law 14,254/21 in public and private schools in Brazil. Method: This is an applied, descriptive study with both quantitative and qualitative approaches, which will investigate educational practices for students with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning disorders in public and private schools in Brazil, in light of Law 14,254/21. The research includes a scoping review with bibliometric analysis of scientific production related to legislation and educational actions since the 2000s. A checklist will be developed to verify whether the law has been implemented, with validation of the instrument through expert review. After its development, the instrument will be administered both virtually and in person to teachers from public and private schools across Brazil. Data collection will include only education professionals who sign the informed consent form, excluding incomplete responses or those from participants who do not meet the criteria. Expected Results: This study will provide parameters that may assist in the implementation of laws addressing the educational population, especially those focused on students with dyslexia, ADHD, or other learning disorders. Furthermore, the results will highlight potential challenges regarding the implementation of the federal law in question, resulting in essential material to support the continued pursuit of best practices for its effective implementation.
