A virtual booklet as a tool for health education for women and their families during the postpartum period.
Postpartum Period; Infant, Newborn; Health Literacy; Health Education; Women's Health.
The postpartum period is a delicate phase of female readjustment after childbirth, demanding comprehensive attention and specific care, but it shows a lack of effective educational materials at the time of hospital discharge. Given this scenario, the objective was to construct a technical-technological product, classified as didactic material in virtual format, to assist women in facing the main doubts and difficulties in the postpartum period and in the care of the newborn after discharge. This is a descriptive, exploratory study with a qualitative approach, approved by the Research Ethics Committee of UFRN under Opinion No. 7.783.266, which was carried out at the Divino Amor Maternity Hospital in Rio Grande do Norte. The methodology comprised a robust and unified integrative literature review on the puerperium and neonatal care, followed by interviews with ten postpartum women, with data collection closed by theoretical saturation. The data, processed through Bardin Content Analysis, were structured into three categories and their respective subcategories, presented with succinct terminology for greater analytical clarity. Results indicate that post-cesarean self-care and breastfeeding are priority axes for health education. The product’s foundation was based on the principles of Health Literacy, providing theoretical density to the applicability of the educational technology via QR Code. It is concluded that the developed material, available in full in the appendix, improves discharge assistance and strengthens support for the mother-baby dyad.
