DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY FOR MATRICIATING CORE CARE FOR THE SAFETY AND HEALTH OF WORKERS AND HEALTH WORKERS
Occupational Health Services. Occupational Health Policy. Permanent Education in Health. Unified Health System. Qualitative research.
This study focuses on Continuing Education in Occupational Health, through the development of an educational technology aimed at strengthening the matrix support of professionals at the Centers for Attention to the Safety and Health of Workers (NASST) of the State Secretariat of Public Health of Rio Grande do Norte (SESAP/RN). Over the last twenty years, Occupational Health has become a relevant field of action within the Unified Health System (SUS), with the objective of intervening in the process of illness of workers at the three levels of management, ensuring comprehensive care through actions to promote, protect, monitor, and rehabilitate health. In 2022, the Occupational Health and Safety Observatory recorded 612.9 thousand work accidents in Brazil, of which 2.5 thousand resulted in deaths among workers with formal employment contracts, placing the country in fourth place worldwide in the number of fatal work accidents. Among the workers with high rates of accidents and illnesses are health workers, showing that, in the work environment, there are several risks to the health of individuals that can be minimized or avoided through adequate protection and qualification measures. The general objective of this study was to develop an educational technology aimed at Continuing Education in Occupational Health, with a focus on the matrixing of the NASST of SESAP/RN. This is a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, based on the action research methodology, as proposed by Michel Thiollent (2011). The research was developed between November 2024 and April 2025, within the scope of SESAP/RN. Data collection took place in three stages: the first, a workshop to agree and present the study, had the participation of 55 professionals from the NASST and the State Center for Attention to the Safety and Health of Workers (NESST), and aimed to explore their conceptions about Continuing Education in Health (EPS); the second, consisting of individual interviews with 13 participants, sought to identify professional practices and training needs in occupational health; and the third, an operational group with 10 participants, promoted the discussion of data based on a technical report and culminated in the construction of an action plan for the implementation of EPS in the NASST. The data were organized and analyzed with the help of Atlas.ti software, respecting the ethical precepts of the research. As technical products, a technical-scientific report and an action plan aimed at the implementation of EPS in the NASST were prepared. The aim is to contribute to the continuous qualification of the work processes of the NASST teams, promoting matrix support in a concrete, effective and permanent way, in line with the principles of the National Policy for the Health of Workers and Women.
