SUMMARY:

The puerperium is a period of variable duration and imprecise definition, during which the involution and recovery processes of the maternal genitalia occur after childbirth. It begins right after the placenta is delivered and extends up to 45 days postpartum. Given the reality of work routines with a lack of educational materials intended for women in the postpartum period upon hospital discharge, it is important to provide effective and/or facilitating guidance to promote health education for postpartum women when they return to their homes. In light of this, the research question arises: How can we reduce the main doubts and difficulties that women face during the postpartum period and in caring for their newborn after hospital discharge? Objective: To build a technical and technological product of the teaching material type, as a virtual educational instrument, which helps women with the main doubts and difficulties faced in the postpartum period and in caring for the newborn after hospital discharge. Method: This will be a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory investigation. Initially, an integrative review will be conducted to gather information on the central theme from scientific publications, as well as interviews with postpartum women who have already experienced this period. The study will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, following Resolution 466/2012 of the National Health Council. The research will be carried out at Divino Amor Maternity Hospital, after approval from the Ethics Committee. For data analysis, Bardin’s content analysis method will be used. Respecting the saturation of information collected, it is planned that 30 postpartum women will be involved in the investigation. Among the inclusion criteria, Among the inclusion criteria, participants must be postpartum women who gave birth at Divino Amor Maternity Hospital, be over 18 years of age, and those who have only experienced a postpartum period due to intrauterine fetal death will be excluded. Expected Results: The results will be presented through charts and tables, along with a discussion supported by the appropriate literature. It is expected that the technical product, in the form of a handbook, will help reduce postpartum women’s doubts regarding their daily care and newborn care. In doing so, it also aims to have a positive impact on public health by providing a tool that promotes quality of life and autonomy for women during the postpartum period.
