Newborn; Nursing Care; Intensive Care Units, Neonatal.
Introduction: Neonatal Intermediate Care Units are hospital units equipped with the necessary technical conditions to provide specialized care, including physical facilities, equipment, and human resources, aimed at caring for newborns classified as medium risk who require continuous assistance. These conditions emphasize the importance of a healthcare team, including nurses and nursing technicians trained to deliver care to newborns using appropriate techniques and adhering to safety standards. Objective: To develop and evaluate a nursing procedures manual for the care of newborns admitted to intermediate care units. Method: This methodological research involves the development and evaluation of a nursing procedures manual focused on the care of newborns admitted to an Intermediate Care Unit. The study will be conducted at a Municipal Maternity Hospital in the metropolitan region of Rio Grande do Norte state. Participants will include nurses and nursing technicians providing care in the Intermediate Care Unit, selected through convenience sampling. The study will follow these steps: conducting a scoping review, developing the manual, creating a questionnaire for manual evaluation, collecting data from study participants, and performing analytical procedures. This study will be conducted after approval from the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte. Expected Results: To develop, evaluate, and create a QR code for access to the manual available in the intermediate care unit of the studied maternity hospital.
