Introduction: Searching for strategies for the prevention of preventable damages aim at the qualification of health services and instruments for early risk verification are part of a low-cost technical tool for the reduction of errors. Considering the relevance of monitoring risks and standardizing the care process involves the patient, family members and health professionals must be attentive to the guidelines regarding the preparation for performing Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (OHB), since this preparation, before arriving at the treatment service , can be performed in the home environment (outpatient) or in the hospital environment (hospitalized patient). Objective: this research aims to build and validate a checklist to verify actions for patient safety in treatment by Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. Methodology: Methodological, quantitative, descriptive study, to be carried out in three stages: scoping review on the topic, elaboration of the instrument in checklist format and appearance validation. After the construction of the first version of the checklist in the Microsoft Office Word® 2019 program, the content and appearance are validated by a panel of judges. In the third stage, to validate the protocol, an active search for judges (nurses) was carried out through the Lattes platform of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The sample calculation was obtained through Sestatnet with a total of 25 judges. For evaluation and validation of the protocol, a Google forms data collection instrument (electronic form) will be sent, via e-mail, to a seven-point Likert scale (7) strongly agree to 1 strongly disagree). For data analysis it will be done by descriptive statistics, where it will be presented in the form of tables and tables, using the statistical program SPSS, version 23.0. The analysis of the data referring to the validation step is based on the Content Validity Index (CVI) and the Kappa agreement coefficient (k). To start the research, the project will be submitted for approval by the UFRN Research Ethics Committee.
