Pedagogical Curation And Improvement Of Educational Digital Games In A Collaborative Development System: Colabeduc.
ODAs; Educational Digital Games; Pedagogical Curation
The use of Digital Learning Objects (ODAs) has become increasingly common in the educational environment, offering several tools that can be incorporated into classes. However, the vast diversity of ODAs available can cause doubts when choosing and planning teaching. Among these resources, educational digital games stand out because they enable the personalization of teaching specific concepts in different subjects. The effectiveness of these games, however, does not only depend on their technical quality, but also on their pedagogical quality. This study's main objective is to carry out a pedagogical curation of educational digital games available on ColabEduc, a collaborative game development system. Focusing on games aimed at the Early Years of Portuguese Language and Mathematics, the study considers the cognitive challenges inherent to these areas and the progression of skills throughout basic education. The methodology adopted is qualitative, applied and exploratory, including a Systematic Literature Review. The selected games will go through a process of pedagogical improvement, based on criteria established in the literature and in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC). The games will then be tested by Early Years educators, who will incorporate them into their regular teaching practices. Teachers will provide feedback on the effectiveness of the games and suggestions for future improvements. This study is expected to contribute to a deeper understanding of the pedagogical quality of the digital games available on ColabEduc, providing valuable insights to improve their effectiveness as teaching tools. Furthermore, the project aims to support the continued development of the ColabEduc platform and foster future research and initiatives in the field of student-centered educational games and curricular needs. As a final product, a didactic-pedagogical manual will be developed for the evaluation of educational games.
