PARAENSE REGIONAL FOOTBALL CULTURE: Perception in School Physical Education Classes.

The promotion of the dominant media to implement a homogenized football culture for the whole of Brazil, idealized in the culture of the Southeast region, is noticeable, hiding the football culture present in other regions of the country. In my Physical Education classes in the metropolitan region of Belém (PA) involving football, it is possible to identify the reproduction by students of cultural aspects related to sports outside the southeastern region of Brazil. We can consider that this occurrence is not a gain in meanings of football culture, but rather a replacement of football culture practices in the region, even resulting in a loss of part of this local culture. For this reason, this research investigates how the attempt to employ and consolidate a homogeneous culture in Brazilian football, based on the football culture of the Southeast region of the country, reflects on students from other regions of Brazil, in particular the North region, state of Pará, city of Castanhal, which do not have teams from their region in the elite of Brazilian football and which did not receive/receive the same visibility by the dominant media, and analyze the current situation in the conception of football culture in Pará, through statements and understandings of basic education students in the state of Pará, through the instrument and exploratory research of the questionnaire modality, with the data interpreted through thematic analysis and having as an educational resource the production of a booklet on the culture of football in the State of Pará. Research results point to a strong interest among students in consuming southeastern culture and clubs (in particular, the Clube de Regatas Flamengo) with considerable influence from the dominant media. However, they also reveal the eagerness and desire of students to enjoy the football culture of their region in Physical Education classes.
