RESIGNIFYING RHYTHMIC GYMNASTICS: TEACHING POSSIBILITIES IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES IN THE EARLY YEARS

This work intend to establish relations on the aspect of Rhythmic Gymnastics, recognizing it as a corporal manifestation that is part of the Corporal Culture of Movement, capable of producing knowledge to students as content in School Physical Education, from the initial years of Elementary Education, into an appropriate way. Therefore was defined the general objective of developing a didactic unit based on General Gymnastics for teaching elements of Rhythmic Gymnastics, in Physical Education classes, in the early years of Elementary School, aiming at bringing this modality closer to the students’ bodily experiences at this level of education. About 80 students from the 1st to the 3rd year of Elementary School at Escola Estadual Professora Maria Luiza Alves Costa participated in this research. As study instruments we had the collective interview and the participant observation about the intervention in a didactic unit of gymnastics. We used 5 classes in each group. As a literature review, we approach information about Brazilian Physical Education, its history, evolution, and legitimacy, so that we can better understand its current organization, its particularities; and in Rhythmic Gymnastics, a corporal practice that is part of the Corporal Culture of Movement, rich in pedagogical possibilities, but little developed at school in Physical Education classes. The main result was to present didactic material aimed at teachers interested in developing the basic content of Rhythmic Gymnastics from General Gymnastics, in Physical Education classes, in the early years of Elementary School.
