SUMMARY:

This research seeks to understand how innovative teaching practices, centered on the student and based on the development of social-emotional skills, can contribute to student engagement, improved behavior, socialization, and active participation. The investigation arises from a problem present in the field of work of the teacher/researcher, who deals with undisciplined students in physical education classes. Through this study, we seek to present methodological possibilities capable of developing social-emotional skills and improving student behavior in classes within the curriculum. In order to achieve this purpose, the following objective was established: To analyze how the implementation of Active Methodologies associated with Life Skills in Physical Education classes influences the confrontation of indiscipline among 5th grade students in the early years of elementary school at a public school in São José de Mipibu-RN. And specifically: (i) Produce an educational product (e-book) based on pedagogical intervention using Active Methodologies associated with the Development of Life Skills in school Physical Education; (ii) Investigate how the application of Active Methodologies associated with Life Skills in Physical Education classes can impact student engagement, participation, and socialization, considering their interactions and behaviors in the classroom; (iii) Identify the effects of implementing these methodologies on reducing indiscipline, verifying changes in student attitudes. The research is characterized as qualitative, assuming the designs of action research, as it deals with a recurring problem in the field of the teacher-researcher, who seeks to investigate and improve their pedagogical practice (Tripp, 2005). The didactic sequence will be applied in a 5th-grade elementary school class, composed of 24 students. The plan includes eight meetings, each consisting of two 45-minute classes. The activities to be developed will be based on active methodologies and life skills. The active methodologies, based in this work mainly on the theories of Berbel (1999); (2012); Al-azawi, Al-faliti, and Al-blushi (2016); Gouveia, Dias, Cabrelli (2022), will be organized with the aim of developing social-emotional skills through activities involving group work, gamified activities, and problem solving. Corroborating this aspect, life skills, based essentially on the authors Holt; Deal; Pankow, (2020), will be used to promote reflection on students' attitudes, behaviors, and emotions/feelings. To collect information on attitudes, behaviors, interactions, and the like, we will use semi-structured interviews, which will be conducted with students before and after the intervention, field diaries, audiovisual resources, and observation scripts. Thus, it is hoped that the study will contribute not only to improving behavior and coexistence in the classroom but also to strengthening innovative pedagogical practices in school physical education. We believe that the results can serve as a resource for other teachers facing similar challenges, broadening the debate on the importance of active methodologies and the development of life skills in the educational context.
