School sports. Physical Education. Integrated High School. Holistic Development. IFRN.
This study aims to analyze how sports contribute to the holistic development of former students from the Integrated High School Program at the Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Norte (IFRN). The research investigates the impact of extracurricular sports activities on students’ academic and professional trajectories, considering the context of integrated technical education. The methodology adopted is qualitative and descriptive, using questionnaires and audiovisual reports from former students who participated in sports modalities offered by IFRN at the Pau dos Ferros and Santa Cruz campuses. Data analysis will be conducted through Content Analysis, based on Bardin's (1977) approach. The study is grounded in theories of school Physical Education, critical pedagogical approaches, and the concept of omnilateral education, emphasizing the integration of sports, science, culture, and labor. Additionally, it discusses different manifestations of school sports and their influence on citizenship and student leadership development. As an educational product, a documentary will be developed to present the research findings, highlighting the benefits and challenges of sports in student development. The material will be made available on educational platforms and can serve as a pedagogical resource for teachers and school administrators. With this initiative, the study aims to contribute to improving sports practices in the context of integrated high school education, providing theoretical and practical insights so that sports are recognized as a tool for human and social development.
