The use of vegetable oils, especially babassu oil, for the production of renewable fuels is already prominent in the literature. However, the use of such feedstock often
involves decarboxylation via thermochemical/thermocatalytic methods, commonly using fossil-derived hydrogen at high pressures and temperatures, along with specific
catalysts to promote the deoxygenation of oxygenated species. This is because the high oxygen content negatively impacts the operation of conventional engines and
turbines. In an attempt to overcome the challenges associated with this technique, there is a growing interest in innovative methods for deoxygenating lipidic biomasses,
aiming to make such materials viable as efficient biofuels. In this study, a new strategy for the decarboxylation of fatty acid esters derived from babassu oil is presented,

employing reductive catalysis with a commercial cobalt catalyst and a silane as a hydrogen source. After the proposed optimization study, involving 111 reactions and the
determination of the optimal protocol, it became possible to obtain hydrocarbons in the range of BioQAV and green diesel, with high selectivity, mild conditions, and
procedurally simplicity, achieving conversions in the range of 56%-99% and yields ranging from 16%-80%. The products obtained were characterized by Gas
Chromatography with Flame Ionization Detection (GC/FID) and Gas Chromatography coupled with Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS). From this perspective, the
decarboxylative protocol developed appears as a promising method for the production of renewable hydrocarbons that covers the range of advanced fuels.
