The insertion of mesoporosity via mechanochemistry through the use of a ball mill and the influence of channel dimensionality in zeolitic structures with 12-member pores (12-MR) and 1D (1-dimensional) channel system for Mordenite zeolite and 3D (3 dimensions) for the Faujasite zeolite were evaluated in this work. The materials synthesized and modified by means of milling and cation exchange processes were characterized using several complementary techniques, such as: X-Ray Diffraction, X- Ray Fluorescence, Nitrogen Adsorption and Desorption, Scanning and Resonance Electron Microscopy Aluminum Nuclear Magnetics. The mordenite zeolite showed a considerable increase in the volume of mesopores when subjected to lower rotations and longer rotation times. Faujasite zeolite showed little structural stability against cation exchange treatments due to the low Si/Al ratio presented by this material. The materials synthesized and modified in this work will be further tested in the model reaction of Cumene cracking.
