Phloroglucinol derived molecules commonly have alkyl or acyl groups substituted on the THB unit, which are susceptible to cyclization and oxidation. Because of this, polycyclic molecules can be formed. The structural variability of these derivatives provides a promising source of bioactive compounds, which can serve as a basis for the development of medicinal. In addition, some compounds have been associated by experimental studies and literature reviews with biological activities, such as: antibacterial, anthelmintic, antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti angiogenic, antibiotic and anti-HIV. Despite the existence of relevant reviews of phloroglucinols and its derivative compounds, updates on this subject are constant and there are still unexplored specifics in literature. Therefore, the present review has compiled data about monomeric acyphloroglucinols derivatives isolated from natural sources, 155 molecules with prenyl and geranyl substitutions linked to the THB ring were identified and spectroscopic data of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and the biological activities reported in the literature, considering publications from 1978 to 2022, were associated with the cataloged metabolites.
