Aeronautical fuel requires a rigorous control of its physicochemical properties and the monitoring of these properties shows its quality, stability and absence of adulterating compounds that have a negative impact. The impact on the quality of aviation kerosene after being adulterated by illuminating kerosene in the concentration range 50% (v/v) was investigated in this work, characterizing it according to total aromatics, total sulfur, distillation curve, flash point, specific mass, soot point, freezing point, viscosity and corrosivity, as well as its storage stability. For the evaluation of the storage process, different concentrations of aviation kerosene were mixed with the illuminating kerosene in the concentration range between 5 and 60% (v/v), thus simulating the adulteration and aging process, the mixtures analyzed by means of spectroscopy analysis infrared (MIR/NIR) during a period of 0 to 60 days of storage, after this process the data were submitted to chemometric techniques of exploratory analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (PCA-LDA). The results showed that the aviation kerosene, even being adulterated with illuminating kerosene, remained stable throughout the storage process, being evidenced by the chemometric data and physicochemical values within the tolerable by resolution nº 778, however, it was possible to notice that the values obtained from the physicochemical properties are intermediate values between aviation kerosene and the illuminant and that the soot point value was below that specified by the resolution. Illuminating kerosene showed potential to modify the properties of aviation kerosene, requiring attention to possible adulteration processes by it.
