RESUMO:

National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) has instituted the gradual increase of the use of biodiesel to diesel, for commercialization in Brazil, being necessary the control of the oxidative processes and the research of new catalysts to obtain them. This work produced antioxidants of natural products (Passiflora edullis, Punica granatum, Syzygium aromaticum) that were evaluated in biodiesel synthesized from cotton and soybean oil by homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. The heterogeneous catalysts obtained were based on silicas impregnated by metals. In order to meet the market demand, biodiesel / diesel mixtures were obtained, in volumetric contents above the one specified by the ANP, of 10% and 15% in biodiesel, whose physicochemical properties viscosity, density and clogging point were determined according to the norms of American Society for Testing and Materials - ASTM. The antioxidants obtained were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and the catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (FRX) and FTIR. The antioxidant activity in biodiesel was evaluated using the Rancimat method, obtaining Induction Point (IP) values, close to those required by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP). The antioxidant obtained from the species Passiflora edullis presented PI of 5.23 hours and 3.68 hours, respectively, for soybean and cotton biodiesel. The FTIR spectra of the antioxidants presented bands around 3000 cm-1 relative to the CH-deformation of aromatic, 1601 cm -1 and 1460 cm -1 attributed to the axial deformation of C = C of the aromatic ring, characteristics consistent with phenolic compounds, Major components of these antioxidants. The silica supported bimetallic catalyst (CAT1) presented similar results to commercial catalysts, with a reaction time of 30 min, and an 85% yield for the biodiesel produced, being possible the recovery of the support used. The catalytic converter CAT2 produced the biodiesel in a longer reaction time and yield of 75%, but presented high reuse capacity. The natural antioxidants obtained in this work presented antioxidant activity in biodiesel similar to synthetic antioxidants, with a methodology of easy execution and using low cost reagents. The antioxidant /biodiesel/diesel mixtures remained within the specification limits required by the ANP for fuel commercialization.
