RESUMO:

In this work, has as main objective to contribute to the development of bioinorganic chemistry systems involving phenanthroline and biologically active metal ions of copper (II) and zinc (II) through the synthesis and structural study of new metal complexes of zinc and copper with phenanthroline, associated with vanilloid ligands of biological interest, such as vanillin (van) and Schiff bases derived from vanillin, obtained from the condensation of D-glucosamine and vanillin, vglu, as well as the condensation of 2-picolylamine with vanillin, vpca. Additionally, were synthesized and characterized polynuclear complexes with metal ions of zinc (II) coordinated to the ligands vpca, cis-[M(phen)(vpcaZnCl2)2], where M = Cu2+ e Zn2+. The complex cis-[Cu(phen)(van)2] was characterized by X-ray diffraction, spectroscopic (IR, EPR and Uv-Vis) and electrochemistry, which showed the formation of octahedral complex with tetragonal distortion, which metal is inserted in an asymmetric environment with elongation of the axial rare front similar systems described in the literature. The other compounds obtained were characterized by IR and Uv-Vis, with the copper complexes still characterized by electrochemistry and the zinc complexes characterized by 1H NMR. Through infrared it was possible to indicate the presence of the phenanthroline ligand at all complexes synthesized, and the presence of the vanillin ligand in cis-[M(phen)(van)2] from the C=O stretch of the aldehyde group, as well as the Schiff bases formed in the systems cis-[M(phen)(vglu)2], cis-[M(phen)(vpca)2] e cis-[M(phen)(vpcaZnCl2)2], by the presence of stretch imine group (C=N). The electronic spectra of coordination compounds obtained indicated the presence of the phenanthroline ligand, by its intense bands with π-π* transitions in the ultraviolet region, of the vanilloid group deprotonated, from bands between 300 to 350 nm, and the Schiff bases formed by n-π* transitions of the imine present in these compounds. The voltammograms of copper complexes have metal redox pair, related to the Cu2+/Cu1+ redox process, as well as oxidation processes of vanilloid ligands. The 1H NMR spectra showed signals of protons at shifts and couplings that are consistent with the structures proposed for zinc (II) complexes.
