Analysis of “Regime de Observação do Desempenho Acadêmico” at UFRN.
Dropout. Retention. Higher Education.
The movement to expand access to higher education is being accompanied by a concern with the permanence of these students and with the obtaining of their undergraduate degrees, considering that dropout represents prejudice in the most varied aspects. In order to minimize the problem, some institutions implement mechanisms to observe and / or remove students with progress considered unsatisfactory. From this perspective, the objective of this paper is to analyze the Academic Performance Observation Regime (R.O.D.A.) and its impact on the dropout of UFRN students. To achieve this, an explanatory research will be conducted with a quantitative approach, based on data provided by the “Superintendência de Informática” of this university. For the analysis of these data will be used the methods of Regression Discontinuity Design and Multiple Regression. Therefore, this study is expected to contribute to the evaluation and improvement of R.O.D.A .
