EVALUATION SYSTEMATICS IN THE APPLICATION OF CASES FOR ADMINISTRATION TEACHING: an exploratory study on the perception of students and teachers of Brazilian IES

The learning process requires an experiential dimension. Therefore, it is necessary to use new teaching strategies that allow, in the classroom, to align theoretical knowledge with professional practice. Among these new strategies are the active teaching methodologies and, as they are explored and experienced in the classroom, it is necessary to examine all aspects that compose the teaching and learning in this environment. One of these aspects is the process of evaluating components that have been part of active learning. From the practice of active methodologies it is necessary to apply other forms of assessment that can cover the weaknesses of the evaluation methods applied so far. From the perspective of the experiential dimension of learning, the Case for Teaching method has been an important active methodology in the teaching of Business Administration, since it brings students closer to the reality of companies and places them as the protagonist of their learning In this process one of the difficulties encountered by teachers is the best way to evaluate the student from the application of the method of the teaching case, since an active methodology does not support only traditional types of evaluation. In this perspective, the objective of this research is to understand the evaluation process adopted in the application of the case for teaching method in disciplines of management courses in Brazilian HEI. The methodology of this study is exploratory with a qualitative approach, supported by the interpretative posture, based on a multicase study in two federal institutions of higher education in the Northeast. The data collection instruments consist of conducting semi-structured interviews with professors and students who have already gone disciplines that had the application of the case for teaching method as part of the learning process. The technique used for data analysis will be content analysis and use of Nvivo qualitative software. It is hoped, therefore, that this study contributes to the understanding of how the application of new assessment methods is given in the disciplines that use the case method for teaching in the course of administration.
