RESUMO:

This study aims to identify the contributions of Life Cycle Canvas® (LCC) model for project planning aligned to the PMBOK Guide®. It is argued that institutions generally face several changes, especially in its structures, based on a scenario of greater competition and the need for organizational modernization. In this context, the project management practices receive greater attention and become adopted by these organizations. Planning is one of the most important steps in project management, because sets the baseline for your implementation, in addition to resolving the procedures for monitoring and control of the activities involved. However, in the absence of a project-oriented culture and complexity inherent in the organizational context, the traditional practices of planning, such as the PMBOK Guide® and PRINCE2® method presents difficulties of adherence to this new scenario, while models and tools based on canvas gain space, by proposing a simple and flexible way to plan projects. However, there is still a lack of studies proving that models in canvas can be useful when planning projects, and at the same time admire the good practices suggested by traditional models of management. In order to prove such a relationship, the present research is based on LCC model®, proposed by Veras (2016), listing the attributes offered by models in project canvas with the processes suggested by the PMBOK Guide® to plan projects. For this, we intend to use a deductive approach, quantitative in nature, by means of a survey to be carried out with managers, sponsors and team members involved with institutional projects that have utilized the LCC model® to plan projects. It is expected that with the completion of the research can be elucidated the importance and contribution of the LCC model® in relation to the use of project planning practices, presenting it´s role, features, and, consequently, it´s organizational value
